MINUTES
05/01/08
The
meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: TJ Parra, Jeff Fisher, DK Barr, Emily
Fisher, Matt Nelson, Kevin Quinn
Absent: Robert Desselle, Mike Amos, Jared Oliverez
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion by DK Barr, seconded by Matt Nelson to approve treasurer’s
report as written. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S
REPORT: Motion by Emily Fisher,
seconded by Jeff Fisher to approve treasurer’s report as written. Motion carried.
CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: Carol Baker of Demosphere International gave a web
presentation of their on-line registration program. For setup of program
there is a one time fee of $ 250.00 plus a fee of $ 2.50/player. There would be a link setup on the GVAA website
for registration. Jeff Fisher made a
motion to approve using Demosphere for GVAA Sports registration. Seconded by D.K. Barr. Motion carried.
COMMISSIONER REPORTS:
Soccer
– Matt Nelson:
Matt reported that they have had two
weekends of rainouts and have had trouble scheduling make-up games. Plan is to schedule make-up games during the
week.
Matt
said coaches are complaining about parking for soccer at football fields but
fall soccer will be held at Monkey Mountain Park and the Community Center.
Matt
wants to promote British Soccer Camp.
Kevin Quinn will check with the Examiner to run an ad and Jeff Fisher
will talk to The Pointe. TJ Parra
suggested sending out a mass e-mail.
OLD BUSINESS:
Fireworks – Jeff Fisher: Jeff reported that an agreement
was set up with The Chamber for the fireworks tent. DK has the signup sheets for working at the tent.
GVAA Scholarship – DK Barr:
DK would like to see GVAA decide on the
scholarship instead of the school scholarship committee. DK announced the criteria that were
suggested by members of the GVAA. GVAA
would like to start scholarship next year for one girl and one boy. Possibly have top two girls and top two boys
come in and give a speech to GVAA.
Discussion to continue at a later date.
Fundraising Committee – TJ
Parra: TJ announced that Heather Parra and Carmen
Fisher would be in charge of fundraising for all GVAA sports.
Website Renewal – Jeff
Fisher: DK Barr made a motion to renew the GVAA
website sponsored by “Go Daddy” for $ 9.99/month. Matt Nelson seconded.
Motion carried.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Adopt-A-Road – Jeff Fisher: GVAA is adopting Eagles Parkway from Sni-A-Bar to Main Street. Clean up is once a quarter for 2 years. Sign will go up announcing the
adoption. DK Barr made a motion to
adopt the road. Kevin Quinn
seconded. Motion carried.
Fall Baseball – TJ Parra: TJ wanted to bring up baseball in the fall run by GVAA. Matt Nelson suggested talking to Daniela
about heading up fall baseball. It was
decided to bring up topic at a later date.
Football – TJ Parra: TJ announced that signups will start in June. TJ would like to
raise the tackle price to $ 110 to cover socks, mouthpiece, and registration
and $ 80 for flag football. Jeff
suggested moving up cut off date for registration. Topic will be discussed further at football meeting.
Jeff
stated we need to set guidelines for helmets.
TJ would like to get rid of the helmets after 3 years. Discussion to continue at a later date.
