MINUTES
12/06/07
The
meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: TJ Parra, Jeff Fisher, DK Barr, Emily
Fisher, Mike Amos, Jared Oliverez, Matt Nelson, Rob Desselle
Absent: Kevin Quinn, Jared Oliverez
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion by Jeff Fisher, seconded by Robert Desselle
to approve the minutes as written.
Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S
REPORT: DK noted that she had to
correct the balance from last month and to see the Treasurer’s Report. She also had to refund a girl for
basketball. Motion by Jeff Fisher, seconded by Robert Desselle to approve
the treasurer’s report as written.
Motion carried.
DK
stated that she needs to pay the middle school for fees and needed approval of
board to write the check. The total
will be $ 567.00. Jeff Fisher motioned
to pay the check to the middle school.
Seconded by Mike Amos. Motion
carried.
CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: None
COMMISSIONER REPORTS: TJ wanted to let everyone
know of a situation with one of the football coaches. The coach was accused of drinking while coaching by one of the
parents on the team. TJ had a meeting
with all the parents on the team to let them know that if the coach was caught
drinking he would let him go. The
parent accusing the coach went to the police and is threatening to sue. TJ will keep GVAA updated.
DK,
basketball commissioner, reported that she had enough teams for 4th
and 5th and 6th and 7th grade girls and boys
teams. DK presented medals and trophies from Hasty’s and Game Day Trophy along
with cost comparison sheets. GVAA decided to give the “spinner” medals to 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place winners and the red/white/blue medals
to all participants. A motion was made
to purchase the medals from Hasty’s not to exceed $ 350.00. Motion carried.
DK
also opened discussion for basketball t-shirts. She presented a cost comparison for Liddle’s and
Smith-Franklin. It was decided by GVAA
to purchase blue/white tank tops for the boys, blue/white mesh shirts for the
girls, and blue t-shirts for the coaches.
A motion was made to purchase t-shirts from Smith-Franklin not to exceed
$ 2,000.00. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: None
OLD BUSINESS:
INSURANCE – TJ PARRA: TJ reported he is still
waiting to hear back from insurance company.
DK had to break down age groups for him because of the difference. Insurance company is National Sports
Insurance Inc. out of Tulsa, OK. TJ
will give an update when he finds out more information.
WEBSITE – JEFF FISHER: Jeff stated he would like GVAA to look at the website and let him
know if anything needs to be improved.
SOCCER CLINICS – ROBERT
DESSELLE/MATT NELSON: Robert reported he had talked to The Future
of Soccer Club and they would be available for clinics in the spring. He is waiting to hear back on costs. Matt reported he had talked to the Blue
Springs Soccer Club and they pay for MISA license for their coaches. Matt would like to do that for the GVAA and
will need to put together a committee.
NEW
BUSINESS:
LEAGUE FACILITY USE FEES – TJ
PARRA: TJ reported that he had discussed this with
Shannon Davies and Shannon stated he is going to have to charge something for
the use of the facilities but he is not sure yet what that will be. TJ stated GVAA will have to sign a 5-year
contract with The City of Grain Valley.
BASKETBALL FUNDRAISER – DK
BARR: DK is going to see about Sonic cards for a
basketball fundraiser and will report back at next meeting.
BASKETBALL PHOTOS – TJ
PARRA: TJ stated that GVAA needed to choose a
vendor for the basketball photos. He
mentioned that Legends can take action photos and In The Zone can not take
action photos. A motion was made by DK
Barr to use Legends Photography.
Seconded by Jeff Fisher. Motion
carried. Emily Fisher will write a
letter to In The Zone to let them know of the decision.
