MINUTES
11/08/07
The
meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: TJ Parra, DK Barr, Emily Fisher, Mike Amos,
Jared Oliverez, Matt Nelson
Absent: Jeff Fisher, Rob Desselle Kevin Quinn
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion by DK Barr, seconded by Jared Oliverez to
approve the minutes as written. Motion
carried.
APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S
REPORT: Motion by Emily Fisher,
seconded by Mike Amos to approve the treasurer’s report as written. Motion carried. D.K. Barr noted that a check for $ 200 had bounced to the account
but it should be okay by next week.
CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: Joy Weaver from Home Interiors presented a candle
fundraiser. GVAA would get fifty
percent of the sales. No minimum
purchase and free shipping $ 1,500 worth of sales.
Tracy
Spisak from “In the Zone” Sports Photography presented her companies
capabilities. Tracy stated “In the
Zone” can handle large groups and you can re-order on-line. Re-shoots and refunds are available if
someone isn’t completely satisfied. Tracy
uses GPA lab out of Spokane, Washington.
COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Heather Parra, football fundraiser commissioner,
stated they are having trouble collecting “Football Frenzy” cards. There have also been multiple winners and
several different checks will have to be cut.
TJ Parra said that several parents have had issues with the fundraiser
so the fundraiser will not be used next year.
He stated that if they figure out the costs per child for football
equipment then maybe next year we can just charge a straight cost and forego
the fundraiser. Ray Ramirez suggested
getting a portion of football fee back if you sell a certain amount for the
fundraiser.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: None
OLD BUSINESS:
BASKETBALL – DK BARR: DK reported that
registration ends Monday, November 12.
DK is concerned with the number of 4th and 5th
grade girl signups. DK suggested
possibly bringing in a team of 5th graders from Oak Grove or letting
the 4th graders go and combine 5th, 6th, and 7th
grade teams. TJ suggested
inter-leaguing with Lone Jack. DK will
wait until right before the draft to decide what, if any, changes need to be
made.
SOCCER CLINICS – MATT
NELSON: Matt stated that there is a possibility of
getting soccer clinics set up with the Wizards. He will look into it further and report more at the next meeting.
ADVERTISING/PR WORK: TJ stated that we ultimately will have a corner sign up in Grain
Valley where there will be sign-up information available all year long.
NEW
BUSINESS:
INSURANCE – TJ PARRA: TJ reported he is waiting on an e-mail from an insurance company
in Texas. He will give us another
update at the next meeting.
WEBSITE – TJ PARRA: TJ stated that the website is being rebuilt and it will look like
The City of Grain Valley’s Website when it is finished.
MISSION STATEMENT – TJ
PARRA: TJ reported that Jeff had put the new
mission statement on the website.
RAIN-OUT LINE – SHANNON
DAVIES: Shannon stated that Grain Valley had used
Blue Springs rain-out line in the past and he is looking into Grain Valley’s phone system to setup a rain-out line. TJ asked to find out the cost for GVAA to
use.
