MINUTES

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm
ROLL CALL:
Present: TJ Parra (President), Emily Fisher, D.K. Barr, Jared Oliverez, Mike Amos, Bryan Manns, Kevin Quinn
Absent: Rob Desselle, Jeff Fisher (VP)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion by David Halphin, seconded by Bryan Manns to approve minutes as written. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF ACCOUNTS PAYABLE: Motion by David Halphin, seconded by Bryan Manns to approve accounts payable.. Motion carried.
CITIZEN COMMENTS: Representatives from Legends Photography presented photography services. Handouts and a display were presented with different options. If the GVAA were to sign a two year contract agreement with Legends then each player would receive one free item a year.
COMMISSIONER REPORTS: Flag Football Commissioner, David Halphin, announced there will be a total of six flag football teams this year so all games will be played in-house.
Football Fundraiser Commissioner, Heather Parra, announced that the Football Frenzy cards will be in on Monday and the cards will be distributed next week.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: GV Parks and Recreation Director, Shannon Davies, announced the city will be performing background checks on anyone 17 years and older involved with the GVAA. The background checks will entail filling out paperwork and having Shannon send it out to the Division of Family and Services. The background check will be valid for 12 months. If something comes back on the background check, then Shannon will have a criminal check performed. Individuals will have the right to appeal anything found against them.
OLD BUSINESS:
GVAA.ORG Website – TJ Parra: TJ would like feedback on what the GVAA members would like to see on the website.
“No Dog” Signs on Football Field – Shannon Davies: Shannon is working on getting the signs up before the football games begin.
Grain Valley Fair Booth – David Halphin: David requested that if anyone had ideas for the booth to please e-mail him as soon as possible.
NEW BUSINESS:
Flag Football Rules– David Halpin : David passed out handouts with the new flag football rules.
Basketball Rule Changes- Bryan Manns: Bryan Manns passed out handouts with possible rule changes for basketball. He mentioned that it might be a good idea to offer basketball camps, extra playing time, etc. that would be included in the cost of playing basketball since Grain Valley is higher than surrounding cities. Ray Ramirez mentioned possibly giving multi-sport discount. Discussion will be carried to next meeting.
Soccer, Basketball, Wrestling – TJ Parra: TJ would like to get things ready to take over soccer. D.K Barr mentioned that soccer signups are usually the first three weekends in January.
Football Concession Stands – Shannon Davies: Shannon mentioned the city is going to take over the football concession stands. He would like to meet with TJ so he can see what was provided in the past for concession so the city doesn’t deviate from previous seasons.
