OLD BUSINESS:
Addendum to Grain Valley Athletic Assocation membership – David Halphin: It was mentioned that since all persons involved with the GVAA sports will have to join the GVAA and receive a background check that an addendum needs to be made to the membership enrollment form and added to the bi-laws. Enrollment for shall read as follows, “Please advise as a member of the GVAA you will be subject to a background check through the City of Grain Valley.”
NEW BUSINESS:
Recommendation to keep K-1 Flag Football in-house – Kevin Quinn: Kevin brought forth the idea of keeping K-2 grade flag football in-house so they would not have to travel. Kevin thought there would be enough kids to sign up from each grade school so that each school would have their own team. The GVAA members agreed that keeping K-1 grade in-house would beneficial, but there wouldn’t be enough 2nd graders signed up to stay in-house. A motion was made to keep K-1 grade in-house as long as 48 children signed up. If not, they would have to switch over to the traveling team. Additionally, children would not be separated out by school this year, but may be in upcoming years depending on signups. Motion carried.
GVAA Tax Exempt Status – David Halphin: David mentioned that the GVAA had applied for a 501-C3 Status but due to the lengthy waiting list the association would not have tax-exempt status this year. Donations to the association can be written off if given in the form of advertising, but straight donations would not be able to be written off.
