MINUTES

The
meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present: TJ Parra, Jeff Fisher, DK Barr, Emily Fisher
Absent:
Mike Amos, Jared Oliverez, Matt Nelson,
Kevin Quinn
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Not enough Board members present for quorum. Approval postponed.
APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S
REPORT: Not enough Board members
present for quorum. Approval postponed.
CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: None
COMMISSIONER REPORTS: None
OLD BUSINESS:
Football – TJ Parra: TJ reported that sign-ups
started June 1st and the deadline for registration is July 20th. There is no spot for a buy-out on the
registration form but there is a spot for donations that will go towards GVAA
scholarships. On-line registration
allows payment in installments. There
is also a spot on the website for merchandise that TJ would like to use. TJ would also like to purchase two canvas
banners (4’x8’) for football signups.
TJ
would also like to purchase sleds for football. He will bring pricing to next meeting.
The
high school has contacted TJ regarding working with GVAA. Details to follow at a later meeting.
TJ
reported that old helmets will start being sold to inner city kids for $
30.
TJ
also reported that insurance had been purchased for all sports through ASI in
Grain Valley. Insurance is $
8.17/child.
Adopt-A-Road – Jeff Fisher:
There will be a clean-up on Saturday, June
7, 2008. Meeting place is the high
school at 9:00 am. Adopt-A-Road sign
will be up next week.
Fireworks – TJ Parra: TJ stated that sign-up sheets need to be put together for the
fireworks stand. He would like to put
money from the stand into the GVAA Membership Fund.
GVAA Scholarship – DK Barr: The Board needs to give criteria to Jean at the high school so
she can direct students to our scholarship.
Students would fill out form that would be given to us directly. The first scholarship would be given in
April 2009.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Concession Stand Tickets – Shannon
Davies: Shannon would like to have Matt Nelson present
to talk about. The idea is to allow
parents that are supposed to bring treats to purchase pre-paid tickets at
concession stand
Shannon
also reported that the Parks and Rec department have purchased two bleachers
from the high school.
Cheerleading – Emily Fisher: Emily reported she is currently checking on setting up a
cheerleading clinic and setting up sign-ups for fall cheerleadingl.
Winter/Spring Parks and Rec
Guide – Shannon Davies: Shannon would like
GVAA to figure out dates for Winter/Spring Sports so he can add information to
the new guides. The next edition will
have basketball, soccer, and baseball.
