Present: TJ Parra, Jeff Fisher, DK Barr, Emily
Fisher, Matt Nelson, Jared Oliverez, Kevin Quinn
Absent: Robert Desselle, Mike Amos
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: D.K. noted the previous minutes needed to be amended to show
Robert Desselle as absent. Motion by Kevin Quinn, seconded by D.K. Barr to

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S
REPORT: Motion by Kevin Quinn,
seconded by Jeff Fisher to approve treasurer’s report as written. Motion carried.
CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: Brad Burditt, President of the Grain Valley Chamber
of Commerce, was present to ask GVAA if they would be interested in partnering
with The Chamber for the Grain Valley annual fireworks tent. Mr. Burditt offered GVAA
$
1,000/day (providing profit for the day was at least $ 2,000) for seven days
prior to the 4th of July and then any day after the 4th
the profits would be split in half.
Average profit is $ 9,000 to $ 18,000.
If GVAA chose to participate this year then next year profits would be
split in half for all days tent was open.
The tent is open from 8 am until 11 pm with 6-10 people a shift. A vote will be held in the executive meeting
to decide whether or not to participate.
COMMISSIONER REPORTS:
Soccer
– Matt Nelson:
Matt reported that soccer is doing
well. The games are scheduled, the
jerseys are passed out, and the referees are scheduled. Matt asked for feedback on referee fee
payment schedule, and decided to pay on a weekly basis. Matt reported he also had Challenger Sports
Camp handouts ready to go. Matt suggested using an on-line registration in the
future for all sports signups.
OLD BUSINESS:
Sales Tax Initiative – Shannon
Davies: Shannon
reminded everyone that the Sales Tax Initiative was coming up for a vote on
April 8th. Shannon needed
old registrations that he could pull off e-mails from so a mass e-mail
promoting the Sales Tax could be sent out.
GVAA Scholarship – DK Barr:
DK presented examples of scholarships that
had previously been awarded by the high school. She asked everyone on The Board
provide her with 3 or 4 criteria they would like to see for the GVAA
scholarship so she can discuss ideas at the next meeting.
NEW
BUSINESS:
Executive Meeting Time – DK
Barr: DK wrote an amendment to the GVAA Bi-Laws to
move the Executive Meeting time to after the Regular Meeting time and to eliminate
the time limit put on the meetings. A
motion was made by Jeff Fisher to amend the Bi-Laws as written by DK Barr. Seconded by Matt Nelson. Motion carried.
Renewel of Website – Jeff
Fisher: Jeff mentioned that the GVAA website will
be up for renewel on July 2, 2008.
